Violent customer tears hair out of PA convenience store clerk

A 67-year-old woman had her hair ripped out in a violent attack while working as a cashier in Pennsylvania, according to her family.

The attack happened while the woman was working at the GetGo store in Verona on Allegheny River Boulevard on January 9 around 7:15 p.m., according to the family.

A man and a woman entered the store and immediately went behind the counter in the kitchen area, where the employee asked them to leave so they assaulted her, according to the police and the family.

The woman was badly beaten and bruised and had a large clump of her hair pulled out to reveal more than a quarter of her scalp, photos shared by her family show.

“I can’t believe anyone could do this to her or anyone,” said Carin Chadwick, the victim’s niece.

The woman is absent from work, which will result in a significant loss of income for the elderly woman. She also wants to buy a wig until her hair grows back. Chadwick launched a GoFundMe campaign page to help this grandmother “get back on her feet”. The campaign has raised $3,385 of a January 24 goal of $3,000.

The suspects fled the scene in a beige or white Lincoln SUV. Anyone with information should contact the Verona Police Department at 412-828-6034.
