Suspects wanted after struggle with variety store clerk in St. Catharines

Police are asking for help in identifying two suspects – one of whom was wearing a distinctive Kim Jong Un sweatshirt – after a convenience store robbery in June that saw physical force used against an employee.

The theft took place just after 2:30 p.m. on June 16 from a store at the intersection of Lake Street and Russell Avenue.

Police said a suspect entered the store and began taking food from the shelves while a second suspect stood outside to watch.

The store clerk noticed what the first suspect was doing, confronted him, and there was a fight. Police said the lookout then entered the store and used physical force to defeat the store worker.

On Saturday, police released photos of the suspects taken by CCTV cameras and asked for the public’s help in identifying them.

The two suspects are men between the ages of 18 and 25.

The first suspect is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs 170 pounds with short black hair. He wore an orange Timberland T-shirt, black shorts, and black and white shoes.

The second suspect is 6ft 1in tall with medium black curly hair and wore black shorts, white shoes and a hoodie with images of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and former US President Donald Trump.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111 ext. 1009495 or leave an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
