WXII reports that the shooting happened just after 10 p.m. Saturday at Quik Chek.

Citing investigators, WXII reports the suspect entered the store wearing a balaclava and mask, brandished a gun and jumped over the counter before shooting the clerk, a 53-year-old woman, three times. .

The WGHP, citing Chief David Kime, reports that the woman was shot with a .22 caliber handgun. The chief also allegedly told WGHP that the suspect had a conversation with her and did not show her the gun until he opened the cash drawer.

Both news outlets report that the SBI is handling the homicide investigation.
