Suspect shoots gun at store clerk for four sodas

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police in Columbus said a suspect threatened a store worker with a semi-automatic handgun when confronted with the theft of four sodas from a cooler.

This happened around 7:55 a.m. Tuesday at the Advance Auto Parts store in the 1200 block of E. Main Street.

Authorities say the suspect took four sodas from the cooler next to the cash register and left the store without paying.

The 40-year-old store manager followed the suspect outside to confront him, police said. That’s when the suspect shoved a gun into the warden’s side, taunting him with, “What are you going to do about this?” “

Police said the suspect then searched the principal’s pant pockets for money.

The suspect fled to the back of the store and took off in a black Buick with three other people inside, police said.

The suspect was described as being in his late teens, measuring 5’4 ” and 110 pounds. Police said he was wearing a black fleece hoodie, black sweatpants and bright yellow Crocs with water socks. The handgun has been described as small caliber with a golden tint.
