Robbery store clerk at Talladega County gas station killed

UPDATE 3/14: The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest Monday in the February murder of a 27-year-old gas station clerk. Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore said a person of interest in the case has been arrested on unrelated felony charges and is currently being held in the Talladega County Jail as the investigation continues. —Authorities are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery that killed a store clerk in Talladega County on Wednesday night. According to the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Crown Service Station on Old Birmingham Road around 9:45 a.m. Thursday in reference to a possible robbery that occurred Wednesday evening. At the scene, deputies found the store clerk, 27-year-old Sri Satya Krishna Chitturi, dead inside the business. His body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The sheriff’s office said an undetermined amount of money was taken from the store. A GoFundMe was set up to help the pregnant woman from Chitturi and to help bring her body back to India. According to the GoFundMe page, Chitturi had only been in the United States for about a month. Investigators are looking for a thin black male approximately 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall. During the flight, he wore black clothes, an Air Jordan backpack and black and white Nike shoes.
