By Joanne Faulkner (September 14, 2021, 6:39 p.m. BST) – Dozens of female retail workers, mostly female, have accused Morrisons of illegally paying them less than the supermarket giant’s predominantly male warehouse workers in the aftermath of ‘a landmark UK Supreme Court case lowering the bar for pursuing employment equality claims.
More than 70 staff are seeking damages in a recently released High Court complaint of discrimination under the Equal Pay Act. They say their roles and that of warehouse workers are of equal value, but shop workers were paid a lower hourly rate. The lawsuit is brought on their behalf by the law firm Roscoe Reid Ltd.
