Robbrie Thompson was convicted Thursday of the murder of Soon Ja Nam, owner of the Handy Corner Store and killed in April 2019.
PUYALLUP, Washington – A man charged with the 2019 murder of a Puyallup store clerk was convicted on Thursday.
Robbrie Thompson was arrested at the age of 16 for the murder of Soon Ja Nam, 79, who owned and operated the Handy Corner Store with her husband.
Jury found Thompson guilty of all eight counts, including two counts of aggravated first degree murder for the death of Nam and Franklin Thuo, first degree murder for the death of Nam, first degree theft, first degree conspiracy for robbery, two counts of second degree assault and illegal possession of a second degree firearm, according to the Pierce County District Attorney’s Office.
On April 27, 2019, Thompson and another suspect entered the Handy Corner Store with a gun and demanded money. Police said Nam gave them money and they shot him in the back.

The body of a second suspect – also 16 – was found on the north shore of Tacoma, and his death was deemed a homicide.
Thompson’s sentencing is set for November 19.
