OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – An employee of a convenience store in northwest Oklahoma City says she was sexually assaulted by a customer while she was at work.
The suspect, Hakeem Sanusi, 34, now faces charges in the alleged attack.
“It was over the weekend that police learned of a sexual assault at a northwest Oklahoma City convenience store,” MSgt said. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD).
In order to protect the victim, OKCPD is not disclosing the exact location where the assault occurred in the wee hours of the morning of July 4.
“No one was in the store except for an employee,” Knight said.
Police said Sanusi made inappropriate comments to the alleged victim.
The woman who told agents Hakeem is a regular at the store overnight and frequently makes inappropriate statements, making her uncomfortable.
According to the police report, she went to the back office to avoid him while he was making his coffee, but instead she says he followed her, pushed her and assaulted her. sexually until a client stops.
The woman claims that Sanusi told her, and I quote, “nothing better will come out of this.”
Soon after, she was able to call the police.
“Officers at the scene were able to view surveillance footage of the man and identify him very quickly,” Knight said.
Police said Sanusi was located in a nearby neighborhood – and arrested.
The victim was taken to hospital.
“Although the woman was sexually assaulted, luckily she was not harmed more than the sexual assault,” Knight said.
Sanusi was incarcerated in Oklahoma County Jail for forced oral anal sex and rape by instrumentation.
