LAPD is looking for suspects who murdered store clerk over beer business

The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for two suspects charged with the murder of a store clerk who allegedly tried to stop the couple from stealing cases of beer.

The fatal attack was reported at around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday at Rite Aid in Glassell Park, located in the 4000 block of Eagle Rock Boulevard in Los Angeles.

The victim has been identified as Miguel Penaloza, a 36-year-old Los Angeles resident.

The LAPD said two unidentified suspects entered the business, walked straight to the beer display and each took a case of beer.

Penaloza, an employee of the company, confronted the suspects as they tried to escape without paying.

A brief brawl over beer ensued and one of the suspects brandished a gun and shot Penaloza, killing him.

The suspects fled through the parking lot in an unknown direction, according to the LAPD.

The first suspect was described by police as a Hispanic male, around 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black shorts and black shoes with white trims.

The second suspect has been described by police as a Hispanic male, around 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a large square print on the back, beige or gray pants and black shoes.

The LAPD was asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible for this murder. If you know who committed this crime or have any information about the murder, please contact the LAPD.
