Laconia store worker stabbed multiple times in robbery, police say

A Laconian woman has been accused of stabbing a store clerk during an overnight robbery, police said. Tiniah Wilkins, 23, was charged by police with first degree assault and robbery after claiming to attack a clerk with a knife at a Laconia convenience store early Monday morning. “The suspect entered the facility and attempted to steal a number of lottery tickets from the counter,” Laconia Police Mathew Canfield said. “The clerk asked him to leave and at that point the suspect assaulted the clerk. Police said Wilkins attempted to grab the clerk’s cell phone to prevent him from calling for help. Video shows the confrontation near the front door before the alleged stabbing. “She had been severely beaten. She had been stabbed multiple times, including a 4-5 inch laceration on the left side of her head, ”Canfield said. “She had been stabbed several times in the back, shoulder and chest. Police said Wilkins was arrested a short distance from the store and taken into custody without incident. They said she was found with blood on her hands and face and was in possession of scratch tickets taken from the store. Officials said the clerk was last listed in stable condition. “Certainly a very violent style robbery. “The suspect entered the facility and attempted to steal a number of lottery tickets from the counter,” Laconia Police Mathew Canfield said. “The clerk asked him to leave and, at that point, the suspect assaulted the clerk.”

Police said Wilkins attempted to grab the clerk’s cell phone to prevent him from calling for help. The video shows the confrontation near the front door before the alleged stabbing.

Police say Wilkins was arrested a short distance from the store and taken into custody without incident. They said she was found with blood on her hands and face and was in possession of scratch tickets taken from the store.

Officials said the clerk was last listed in stable condition.

“Certainly a very violent style robbery. More than going to steal something, ”Canfield said. “Very violent and very disturbing when someone wears it to this level.”

Wilkins is in custody and is due in court later this week.
