Enid store worker shot, killed in apparent robbery

Police are investigating after a shop clerk was shot and killed in an apparent robbery on Friday morning in Enid. Shortly before 2:25 a.m., police received a report of a shooting at the Maine Street Mini Mart near East Maine Avenue and 16th Street. A caller told police they were getting gas when they saw three men enter the store. Police said the caller then reported hearing gunshots. Officers responded to the scene and found the store employee with gunshot wounds. The store also appears to have been burglarized, according to police. Authorities said officers attempted to save lives, but the clerk was pronounced dead after ambulance and fire services from Enid arrived. The shooting is still under investigation.
