27-year-old store worker killed in Talladega robbery; investigators are trying to identify the suspect

A store clerk killed Thursday morning in Talladega County has now been identified and authorities have released surveillance footage of a potential suspect.

The Talladega County Sheriff’s Office Thursday night identified the victim as Sri Satya Krishna Chitturi. He was 27 years old.

Deputies responded at 9.45am to a report of a robbery at the Crown petrol station on Old Birmingham Highway, Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore said.

When they arrived, they found Chitturi unresponsive inside the store.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Kilgore said an undetermined amount of cash was withdrawn from the store.

Investigators are looking for information on the suspect. He is described as a black male, approximately 6ft to 6ft 2in tall with a slender build. He wore black clothes, black and white Nike shoes and carried an Air Jordan backpack.
